چکیده

DSR algorithm is applied to selects best path for communication between two nodes in a highly dynamic environment. As highly dynamic environment changes frequently, the probability of breakage of established path is high in such environment. Every time when established path breaks, a new route has to be discovered for communication between the nodes. In order to avoid path discovery every time, we propose themodification of the existing DSR algorithm. The modification proposed is based on a backup route (second best route). The back up routes will be provided by the destination node to the source node along with the best route during the process of path discovery. During the path maintenance process, in case any intermediate node identifies that the signal strength falls below a threshold indicating that the established route is about to break, the intermediate node sends a caution message to the source node. The source node switches the communication through the backup path, apprehending that the established route is about to break. As the communication through the backup route takes place, the previous established route is repaired, if possible. If repaired, the route will act as the new backup route. This process of toggling between backup route and established route reduces the call for path discovery to a large extent. The stability in consideration of failure of common link and nodes in the back up repaired algorithm has been investigated with new algorithm for stable route selection.

Stability Aware Routing: Exploiting Transient Route Availability in MANETs

The highly dynamic character of a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) poses significant challenges on network communications and resource management. Previous work on routing in MANETs has resulted in numerous routing protocols that aim at satisfying constraints such as minimum hop/distance or low energy. Existing routing protocols often fail to discover stable routes between source and sink when rou...

Trusted Routing Based on Dynamic Trust Mechanism in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

Due to the distributed nature, mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) are vulnerable to various attacks, resulting in distrusted communications. To achieve trusted communications, it is important to build trusted routes in routing algorithms in a self-organizing and decentralized fashion. This paper proposes a trusted routing to locate and to preserve trusted routes in MANETs. Instead of using a hard ...

Network Working Group the Dynamic Source Routing Protocol (dsr) for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks for Ipv4

The Dynamic Source Routing protocol (DSR) is a simple and efficient routing protocol designed specifically for use in multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks of mobile nodes. DSR allows the network to be completely self-organizing and self-configuring, without the need for any existing network infrastructure or administration. The protocol is composed of the two main mechanisms of "Route Discovery" ...

The simulations were conducted with and without transmission power control...

MP-DSR: A QoS-Aware Multi-Path Dynamic Source Routing Protocol for Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks

Routing in wireless ad-hoc networks has received significant attention from recent literature due to the fact that the dynamic behavior of these networks poses many technical challenges on the design of an effective routing scheme. Though on-demand routing approaches have been shown to perform well, they generally lack the support for Quality-of-Service (QoS) with respect to data transmission. ...
